Research into Practice Funding
Back in December 2011 we wrote to Directors of Nursing in our partner NHS Trusts with a proposal and an offer: the CLAHRC was prepared to fund a small number of Research into Practice Placements.
These were designed to be short term, small, manageable and immediately relevant research projects to be carried out by nurses and allied health professionals in their workplace and to the benefit of their service and patients.
Applicants were asked to submit their proposals on a single side of A4; to let us know what their research would be about, why it was necessary, and that they had their line manager’s support. We had 36 applicants and we’ve been able to support 11 placements of 1 day a week for 13 weeks.
We also had applications from four Speech and Language Therapists who we have not been able to fund individually, but we are aiming to work with as a group.
The research will be carried out in the workplace, and will be supported by CLAHRC employees, including academics and senior managers from the NHS and local government.
The first tranche of 7 successful applicants will be attending an orientation session at the University on Monday 5 March 2012. The second tranche of 4 will follow shortly afterwards.
